Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The Santa Clarita Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Techo-Bloc-compatible driveway pavers and repair components throughout Santa Clarita, with full paver driveway installation typically running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base condition, and the specific Techo-Bloc series you’re matching. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a paver that’s sunk half an inch, a shifting border near the garage apron, or a section that’s started to separate after the winter rains. If you’re looking at a Techo-Bloc paver that’s cracked, sunk, or pulling away from its edge restraint, you want a match that’s right, not just close.
The most common call we get from Santa Clarita homeowners starts the same way: “One paver is lower than the rest.” Sometimes it’s a single unit. Sometimes it’s the whole edge row. Either way, the fix starts with knowing which Techo-Bloc line you have and what’s underneath it.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc makes several paver lines, and they are not interchangeable, even when they look similar at a glance. The big three we see across Santa Clarita driveways are the Blu 60, the Aberdeen, and the Victorien. Blu 60 is the workhorse: a rectangular 60mm paver sized to handle vehicle loads on driveways. Aberdeen is a more traditional tumbled stone look, frequently used for patios and borders. Victorien has an aged, timeworn face that a lot of homeowners in the newer Valencia and Bridgeport developments choose for front walkways and driveway accents. Each line has its own joint width, chamfer, and color blends. A Blu 60 in Shale Grey is not the same color as a Blu 60 in Sandalwood, even from the same pallet run.
You can identify what you have by checking the underside of a lifted paver for the Techo-Bloc stamp and the series name, or by measuring the paver’s thickness in millimeters. If you can’t lift one safely, take a clear photo of the surface pattern and color and bring it to us. We’ll match it against Techo-Bloc’s current and recently discontinued blends. Techo-Bloc does change color offerings, and a paver bought in 2016 may no longer be in active production. That’s the reality of matching: we’ll always try OEM first, and if the exact color is gone, we’ll show you the closest current equivalent alongside the original before anyone starts digging.
Elmstead Remodeling Santa Clarita is an independent contractor and not affiliated with Techo-Bloc. We work with their products because they’re specified clearly and their warranties are written for real-world use, but we’re not a Techo-Bloc dealer or authorized service center.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sinking or low spots near the apron or garage pad. This is almost always a base problem, not a paver problem. In Santa Clarita, we get hard clay that expands and contracts with moisture, and if the aggregate base was skimped on, pavers drop over time. The paver itself is usually fine; the ground beneath it isn’t.
- Pavers shifting or rotating out of line. This points to failed edge restraint. The plastic or aluminum edging that holds the outer row in place gets brittle after years of sun exposure here, and once it lets go, the whole edge can walk outward by an inch or more.
- Wide or growing joints between pavers. Joint sand washes out or compacts down. You’ll see it most after a heavy rain. Left alone, the pavers start to grind against each other and the chamfered edges chip.
- Cracked or split pavers, especially near the driveway edges. We see this where vehicle tires consistently run over the same spot, or where a paver was cut around a curve and the cut left a thin, weak tongue of material. A hairline crack today becomes two pieces after the next hot summer.
- White powdery residue on the paver surface. That’s efflorescence, common with concrete pavers in Southern California’s dry climate. It’s cosmetic, but it tells you water is moving through the paver more than it should be, which is worth a look at slope and drainage.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Santa Clarita, a new Techo-Bloc driveway installation runs $7,000 – $18,000. A partial repair, which is what most owners with a failing section actually need, lands much lower: we quote paver driveway repair work by the job, not by the guess. The written price covers removing the affected pavers, inspecting and correcting the base where it’s failed, reinstalling with matched or closest-available pavers, re-edging, and re-sanding the joints. If whole sections are being replaced, paver patio work typically falls between $3,500 and $11,000 depending on pattern and prep.
What drives the cost: how much base has to be rebuilt, whether we’re matching a current Techo-Bloc color or hunting for a discontinued blend, and how much cutting is needed around curves, drains, or steps. You get the price before any work starts, written, and that’s the price on the invoice. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to the repair: if the pavers settle or the edge shifts within the year, we come back and make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do a visual check: run a hose over the driveway and watch where water ponds, look at the edges to see if the restraint is visible or broken, and tap a few pavers with a rubber mallet to hear if any sound hollow. That’ll tell you a lot.
What’s harder to do safely on your own is lifting and re-bedding pavers correctly. The risk isn’t really the paver; it’s the temptation to just pull one up, add some sand, and set it back. If the base has washed out or compacted unevenly, that fix lasts a season, and the paver settles again. You also can’t see what’s happening under the surface without pulling a section and looking at the base material. If you’ve got three or more pavers shifting, or the edge has walked, call us at (661) 542-4056 before the problem spreads. We’ll come look, tell you what we’d do, and hand you a written price before you agree to anything.
FAQs

Techo-Bloc pavers on a properly built base should last 25 to 40 years in the Santa Clarita climate. What fails first is usually not the paver but the base or the edge restraint, which is why we excavate deeper than the minimum spec and compact in lifts rather than one pass. UV is hard on everything here, but Techo-Bloc’s color comes from integrated pigments, not a surface stain, so fading is gradual rather than patchy. If your pavers are failing at year 8 or 10, the paver isn’t the problem; the install was. Call (661) 542-4056 and we’ll tell you honestly whether you need a repair or a rebuild.
Sometimes. A single cracked paver in a matched color can be swapped in an afternoon. A low section can be lifted, the base can be re-leveled, and the same pavers can usually be reinstalled if they haven’t chipped or cracked. The limit is when the base has failed across a large area, or when the color blend is so weathered that a new paver would stand out against the old. We’ll always show you the most conservative fix first. Call (661) 542-4056 for a straight answer on your specific driveway.
A single-paver replacement or small edge repair is usually done the same day. A section repair that involves re-compacting base material takes one to two days. A full driveway replacement runs three to five days depending on access, grading, and whether we’re matching an existing walkway or border. We’ll tell you the timeline before work starts and we stick to it.
We stock the most common replacement units for the Blu 60 and Aberdeen lines in the colors we see across Santa Clarita. Less common series and colors are ordered directly from Techo-Bloc’s regional distributor, which adds a few days. If we’re also sourcing for a kitchen or bath project, you’ll find us working with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products the same way: named brands, ordered accurately, installed once. Tell us what you’re trying to match and we’ll check current availability before you commit.
If you’re standing in your driveway looking at a paver that’s sunk or shifted, don’t guess. Call (661) 542-4056. We’ll come out, look at the whole run, and hand you a written price for the repair before any work starts. The price on the paper is the price on the invoice, we put that in writing before the first board goes down.
